A New Season
Welcome to the beginning of great things for 2017. We have a record number of participants for this year, and there is always still room for more folks who want to get out there and try something new. Our team goal is to work collaboratively and competitively throughout the season to help everyone grow as performers in a way that represents our school well at all of our meets and the State Festival in December. Although oral interp is a very individual activity, it takes the work of a team to help everyone be their best.
Here's a reminder on the categories:
Humor
Serious
Poetry
Non-Original Oratory
Storytelling (Theme = Mystery Thriller)
Duet
Readers Theatre
We've got a great season ahead, but it will require time and work. To prepare, the best thing you can do is READ! We need to build a library of possible pieces, so scour your favorite books and stories for 10 minute chunks that bring the audience into the world of great literature. Links to digital resources are currently, but Mrs. Boone's room, our school library and Rawlins Library have tons of options to get you started. TED.com is also a great resource for non-original oratory. I'm looking forward to seeing you soon!
